31 Days of Small Joys: Day 2 (May Series)

Welcome to Day 2 of the 31 Days of Small Joys series!

Yesterday you learned to notice the small joys that are always around you. Today, we’re going deeper. Today is about seeking out moments of connection, stepping into the light (both literal and metaphorical), and giving yourself permission to pause.

The small joys today are about being present with the moments that matter most—whether that’s with people you love, with nature, or simply with yourself.

Ready? Let’s find today’s joys.

Today’s Small Joys Checklist

☐ Have a real conversation with someone Not small talk. Ask someone how they’re really doing. Listen without planning your response. Feel the warmth of true connection.

☐ Step outside and find the light Golden hour, dappled shade, or soft morning light—wherever you find it, step into it. Feel it on your skin. This is a small joy.

☐ Sit somewhere beautiful and do nothing A window, a garden bench, a park. Just sit. Watch. Breathe. No scrolling, no agenda. Just witnessing the world.

☐ Send a kind message to someone A text, a note, a quick call. Tell them you were thinking of them. Tell them they’re doing great. Feel the joy in giving kindness.

☐ Listen to a song that makes you feel something Play it loud (or soft, if that’s your mood). Let it move you. Sing along if you want. Music is medicine.

☐ Notice how the light changes throughout the day Watch it shift from morning to afternoon to evening. See how it transforms everything it touches. You’re witnessing the beauty of time itself.

☐ Do something creative, even if it’s tiny Draw a simple doodle. Rearrange flowers in a vase. Write one paragraph. Create something—anything—just for the joy of creating.

☐ Take a walk without a destination Not exercise. Just… wandering. Let your feet lead you somewhere new (or somewhere familiar). Notice what you find.

☐ Make or buy something small and beautiful A pastry you love. Fresh flowers. Fancy tea. A small treasure. Treat yourself like someone you care about.

☐ Laugh at something that’s genuinely funny to you A memory. A video. A joke. Something silly. Let yourself really laugh. Feel it in your body.

☐ Do one small thing that makes your space more beautiful Light a candle. Open the curtains. Put flowers on the table. Tidy one corner. Your environment is affecting your joy—make it yours.

☐ Be fully present with someone for 10 minutes No phone. No distraction. Just you and them (or just you, if you’re alone). What happens in that space?

☐ Wear something that makes you feel good Whatever that is for you. Color. Texture. Comfort. Confidence. Wear it and notice how you walk differently through your day.

☐ Notice one small moment of ease in your day The smooth drive. The easy conversation. The laugh that just happened. Pause and mark it as a small joy.

☐ Give yourself a small moment of luxury A longer shower. Extra cream in your coffee. A nap. A moment of softness. You deserve it.

☐ Tell someone you appreciate them Specific or general. Let them know their presence in your life matters. Feel the joy in being grateful.

The Practice for Today

Small joys aren’t just about noticing—today, they’re about reaching for them. Some of these require action. Some require presence. All of them require intention.

The magic happens when you say: “I’m going to feel something good today.”

And then you do.

Tonight’s Reflection

Ask yourself: “What moment today made me feel most alive?”

It might be in a conversation. It might be in the light. It might be in a simple act of kindness.

Whatever it is—that’s your small joy.

Tomorrow we’ll do it again. Same invitation. New moments to discover.

You’ve got this. 💕✨
